Another taste of hospital food

I am, once again, doing a blog post from a hospital bed.
It feels like only a few short weeks ago i was partaking of hospital meals, but this time Max is OUTSIDE the uterus.
And he, once again, is the reason for our hospital stay.

We awoke this morning to a little man labouring to get his breaths. I managed to get a doctor appointment for 9am who then rather promptly called for an ambulance. He was given oxygen and we then blue-lighted it through the streets of South-West London to Kingston Hospital where he has been prodded and pricked, tubes stuck down orifices and many a doting nurse cooing and gaa-ing over him.

Dear wee man :(

He seems to have contracted bronchilitis, more than likely from his older brothers with snotty noses who insist on giving their new baby brother open-mouthed kisses and leaving snot trails on his cheeks and forehead...

He is currently stable and sleeping. I am expressing milk to be given to him via a tube down his nasal cavity into his stomach every couple of hours. Unfortunately he uses up too much energy feeding, energy he needs to keep breathing (!) so milk is fed to him while he lies there feeling his tummy fill up. Must be a weird sensation...!

So I'm going to catch a few winks now before I need to be relieving the milky pressure once more.

  1. Hang in there....he will get through it and will be snuggling in your arms before you know it. I know its hard when you have older kiddos and a newborn...I myself have a 12 yr old, 9 yr old and 6 month old...its hard but always worth it!
